questions & curiosities
you can't get this wrong
Often it isn't doubt that keeps us from care. It's fear of the unfamiliar, of doing it wrong, of what we might feel or what others might think. So let me say it plainly: there is nothing to get right, and nothing weird about wanting to receive care and improve your life. Come curious, come nervous, come as you are.
FAQ
What actually happens in a Reiki / energy medicine session?
We begin by talking about what's present, what's heavy, what you're hoping to set down. Then you rest on a comfortable table, fully clothed, while I work. Most people drift into something between meditation and a dream. Afterward there's time to land softly: water or tea, quiet, and a little reflective conversation if you want, to help you integrate.
What should I wear? Do I need to prepare anything?
Whatever you'd wear to a dear friend's couch. No preparation, no homework, nothing to study. Come as you are; that's rather the point.
Hands-on or hands-off?
Always your choice. Reiki works both ways, and we'll confirm your preference before we begin. You're welcome to change your mind at any moment, including mid-session.
What if I'm skeptical?
Then you're in good company. I spent twenty years in the corporate world, and I came to this work slowly, carefully, and with plenty of questions. You don't need to believe anything for a session to nourish you. Skepticism is just discernment, and discernment is a valuable tool in this work. At the very least, you can sign up knowing you're invited to an extended period of deep, uninterrupted rest — and rest is medicine too.
What if nothing "happens"?
Sometimes sessions arrive like a technicolor download, full of visuals, insights, physical sensations. Other times they arrive more like weather: slow shifts, a softening, a knot that quietly unties itself days later. There's no performance expected of you, or of the session. Whatever comes is what was ready, what was meant to.
What comes through in an Intuitive Reiki session: are you telling my future?
No. I don't read your future or your past. What arrives comes in metaphor and symbol: images, impressions, sometimes the sense of a guide or an ancestor, offered as loving reflections, not predictions. You remain the author of your life. Always.
Do you offer Reiki near Pasadena or Los Angeles?
Yes. My practice is in Altadena, just up the road from Pasadena (about ten minutes from Old Town). Clients come from across Pasadena, La Cañada, Glendale, and the greater Los Angeles area, and virtual sessions are available wherever you are.
How much does a Reiki session cost?
A traditional Reiki session (75 minutes) is $135, and Intuitive Reiki (90 minutes) is $175. You can add a one-of-a-kind hand-drawn tarot card to any session for $30, or add intuitive guidance to a traditional Reiki session for $40. Your first visit includes an extra fifteen minutes, on me. I offer discounts for Altadena residents and active members of the LA clown community.
What's your cancellation policy?
Payment is collected when you book, and it's fully refundable up to 24 hours before your session. Thank you for understanding.
Can we do this virtually?
Yes, my work translates beautifully to video. Even Reiki and energy medicine? Yes. Energy isn't bound by distance: once we set the intention for care, it works from wherever you are.
Is this a substitute for therapy or medical care?
No. This work is complementary: it sits alongside your doctor and your therapist. (Full disclosures live here.)
Why is Clowning listed in your training?
Because clown is the art of taking the mask off: vulnerability, honesty, and the courage to be new at things. It taught me that tenderness and humor are next-door neighbors. Read more about the brave clown heart →
